It's All About Control

We Can Control Just About Everything Indoors
The house my father grew up in had a single heat register in the middle of the first floor, which was directly on top of the furnace. To get more heat, you opened the louvers on the register. The farther away from that register anything was, the colder it was.
With today's modern heating, cooling and ventilation equipment and distribution systems, combined with a well-performing building, we can have total control over our indoor environment.
There are no good reasons to be too hot, too cold, too dry, too humid, too dusty, or too poor (from big energy bills).
A properly sized air conditioner will gently cool your air, while dehumidifying it as well. A right-sized furnace will warm your air without roasting or over-drying it, and a good humidifier will keep up with your winter needs. Insulation and air sealing will keep the outdoors at bay, and prevent energy losses and uncomfortable areas.
High performance air cleaners will capture the vast majority of dust that makes its way inside, and all the dust that comes off you: more than 30,000 skin cells every hour, totaling over 8 pounds per year!
The best part is, we can control our indoor environments remotely over the internet with smart thermostats, or anywhere in the house with computers or smartphones.
This is all at the heart of building performance - getting the buildings we spend the most amount of time in to be comfortable and healthy places to be, without breaking the bank.
